Maybe it's time to OPEN UP? To reconsider everything about yourself and your practice. To take your yoga to the next level. To twist this way and that. To push up into urdhva dhanurasana and maybe, just maybe press up into a handstand. To laugh in the face of arm balances and attempt them anyway. To focus on your breath and try some of the more challenging positions we do here at the joint- poses like crow, handstand and half moon. The OPEN UP workshop will help you get out of your head and into your body. It will also empower you to take a wider variety of classes here at The Joint.
Yoga 101
We heart yoga. Why? Because it makes us feel better inside and out. It helps bring love, peace and light into our days. Yes, we've become stronger, more flexible and more balanced. But we've also learned to cultivate creative, tranquil minds; to live authentically and engage our hearts. We invite you to heart yoga, too. Perfect for anyone that is brand new to yoga or feels a bit out of practice, this dynamic workshop will teach you the nuts and bolts of basic postures and encourage you to see that yoga is not about the shape of your body, it's about the shape of your life.
Stand On Your Hands!
Handstands are hard. It takes a leap of faith to launch yourself upside down into the unknown but it's pretty freakin' AMAZING when you do get there. This invigorating pose forces you to see things from a fresh (albeit upside down) perspective. It disrupts your regular programming and makes you feel like a kid again- strengthening your core and upper body to boot! So if you fancy getting some air in this energizing pose (or simply need some refinement) then Sarah's 2-hour intensive workshop is just what the yoga doctor ordered. Yoga R&R
Any of the 365 days we spend orbiting the sun can leave us feeling a little out of sorts and in need of some kind of release. That's why there's Yoga R&R. This 2 hour restorative yoga workshop focuses on relaxation and renewal, which can only lead to heart opening bliss. Using blocks, bolsters, straps and blankets for extra support, you will hold postures for an extended period of time so you can really experience all of their yummy benefits. Connect your newly quieted mind with your relaxed (and balanced) body. Hey, isn't this what yoga is all about in the first place?
Do Your OMwork
A medley of yoga, conversation and inspirations to chill out and tune in for High School girls. High School girls only (mom's stay home)! Join fearless leader and yogini extraordinaire Donna Jackson as she offers her true, beautiful words of wisdom. Class will instruct girls to create more awareness in their bodies and cultivate more consciousness in their rich, complex lives. This is a must for all High School girls who want to empower themselves to think critically, out of the box, and bring more beauty and lightness into their lives.
Wide Open
Wacky arm balances. Pretzel-esque binding & backbends. Gravity defying inversions. These are the big enchiladas - the poses we've all been working toward. Yes, these poses are hard. They can be scary to attempt. But they're fun to master and even more fun to fall into and out of. Sarah's transformative workshop is what it all comes down to - a yoga revolution. We invite you to interrupt your regular programming and evolve your practice into a realm of truly twisty possibility. To take your practice to a more advanced level. To become wide open.you'll be standing on your hands in no time!
Soul Sandwich
In most yoga classes the focus is on asana. But what about the more meaningful parts of your practice- you know, the stuff with soul? This transformative workshop is serving up a whole lotta soul- a triple-decker yoga special, if you will. You'll begin with a half hour of pranayama followed by an hour of kick-ass asana and finish with thirty minutes of mind-bending meditation. It's about really immersing yourself in both the centering and closing parts of your practice- the stuff we usually skimp on in class. We know you'll love this tasty yoga treat as much as we do!
Hold On To Your Seat!
Here at the Joint, we're curious about EVERYTHING- the phases of the moon, why they call it rush hour when your car just sits there and how long we can hold certain postures until we start to shake, rattle and roll. That's why we created HOLD ON TO YOUR SEAT. No vinyasa here. Just holding several different poses for way longer than you're used to (hello thighs!). You may find yourself muttering phrases including but not limited to: "who knew muscles had earthquakes" and "I think I can, I think I can". Well, we KNOW that you can. By focusing on your breath, anything is possible!
Bend Over Backwards
Experience the incredible lightness of being open in your heart! Ahh backbends. You can love 'em or leave 'em but here at the joint, backbends (a little love and that thing called gravity) make the world go 'round. They open the heart, build courage and create the kind of incredible mind-blowing energy that enables us to reach out to others and be true to ourselves. If you have yet to find love in a backbend, or if you're simply trying to go deeper, then this super challenging, extremely intelligent workshop has your number. You'll learn to really move from the heart and embrace backbends.
